Young Researcher of the Year Award

This Award recognises talented and passionate young researchers in our industry.

Winning the Young Researcher of the Year Award is about successfully demonstrating the nominated young researcher’s passion and interest in the research industry.

Judges will be looking for the submission to demonstrate the Young Researcher’s:

  • Professional contribution to commercial value or social impact;
  • Contribution to innovation in research practices;
  • Commitment to career development.

The shortlisted entrants will be required to make a 5 minute presentation on a topic of their choice to the Research Society Judging Panel.

Eligibility and benefits

The Young Researcher of the Year Award is open to researchers under 35 years old* and in the first 5 years* of their career, who are current Research Society members. (* As at 1 April 2024.)

They must be nominated by a senior researcher in the industry who is also a Research Society member.

The senior researcher should state in less than 500 words, why they think that their nominated young researcher should be considered for this award.

The winner of the Young Researcher of the Year Award will be awarded the Elissa Molloy Scholarship, which includes a complimentary registration to the next Research Society conference and a $500 voucher for Research Society training activities.
